Absolutely Awesome!

Our new lil sprout is absolutely awesome! He is self assured, excited about life and reacts appropriately to the schooling of our cattle, sheep, fowl, cats, pigs etc. It’s really interesting to watch him learn their ques and respect them without being scared. He seems to be an assessor rather than reactor. He responded to our daughter’s epilepsy by walking over to her and watching with interest. We’ll explore his role with her as they both grow, but it was nice to see that he took note of her condition.

Always Right There With Me

Almost 10 years ago, while working on a dairy in Virginia, I impulsively decided to ride with a friend to a farm in West VA and purchase a Black and Tan English Shepherd puppy. I never even looked into the breed and had no idea what I was getting in to. All of these years later, on our own dairy farm in GA, I am never alone as I go about my farm work. My ESs are right there with me.

Here is a picture from our hike a couple of days ago. Our boy is coming up to 9 months and James says it’s a good thing he’s so cute lol  We’ve been managing George through his puppy and adolescence days.  He continues to grow into being a bright, curious, fun-loving, sweet and determined fellow!  And oh how he loves to chew!!

When we adopted our first ES, he was five years old and scared stiff of everything, including car rides. One way that we handled that was to find a drive through that offered pup cups. Our good ole boy Duke now goes to the window and gently takes the cup himself. He has very minimal fears now and has adjusted to life just fine.

I wanted to send you an update with a couple of current pictures on our way up to the house from the garden this morning. Captain is kind, smart, and easy to train. He's very good about going outside to go to the bathroom. He knows come, sit and down. He's growing at about 2 lbs. per week. As of Friday, he weighed 12.2 lbs. and his legs are getting long. He's a beautiful boy.

He's incredible. I'm on and on about him to anybody that will listen. Been such a joy to have and really aims to please. He fits in perfectly out here. He's my little buddy and wants to be wherever I am going whatever I'm doing. Just the best little dog. Everyone says the same. Appreciate it. Couldnt be happier with him.
